The Shared Wood Company’s First Project in the DRC Receives Investment from Taranis

The Restoration Seed Capital Facility (RSCF) is proud to announce that its partner, The Shared Wood Company (SWC), has secured its first investment in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The large-scale Dibétou project — focused on community development and forest conservation — has been launched in partnership with Taranis.

RSCF supported this transaction through a reimbursable grant, helping SWC strengthen environmental and social standards and conduct a detailed impact analysis. This included in-depth due diligence, consultations with local communities, and an assessment of indigenous peoples’ presence across the two project concessions.

Spanning over 400,000 hectares across the Équateur and Mongala provinces, the Dibétou Project aims to:

– Reduce more than 10 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions
– Protect biodiversity and high conservation value forests
– Promote sustainable agriculture and agroforestry systems in 88 villages
– Create new income opportunities and alternative livelihoods for local communities

Implemented as a REDD+ project, Dibétou will support the DRC in reducing carbon emissions from deforestation and forest degradation, with the goal of achieving Verra certification.

This investment underscores the multiple benefits of conserving standing forests — for climate, communities, and the economy.
